GM TH350, TH400 & 700R4: This adapter kit was designed to allow the use of a GM TH350, TH400, or 700R4 transmission to the stock AMC straight 6 cylinder & V8s. This 5/8" thick steel plate allows you to couple any one of these transmissions, utilizing a modified flexplate (listed below), and retain the stock GM torque converter. The kit comes with the necessary hardware, crank bushing, and flexplate spacers. Flexplates sold separately. We are an Advance Adapters Dealer.

One of the following modified flexplates is necessary to complete this conversion:

P/N 716138-A AMC flexplate 304 & 360 (1972-79). Cost $61.47

P/N 716138-B AMC flexplate 258 & 4.0L (1988-01). Cost $61.47

P/N 716138-C AMC flexplate 360 (1988-91). Cost $61.47

P/N 716138-D AMC flexplate 401 (1972-76). Cost $61.47

P/N 716138-E AMC flexplate 258 (1972-87). Cost $61.47


When using the 716138 adapter kit on a 4.0L Jeep 6 cyl. engine, you will not be able to retain your stock bellhousing flywheel sensor.

This sensor will need to be relocated to the front of the block and used with a new harmonic balancer.


We offer a harmonic balancer kit for the Jeep 4.0L engines. Our kit mounts to the oil pan bolts on the passenger side of the block. Jeeps 1991-1995 may require the drive belt to be rerouted and or a new drive belt may need to be purchased. Our kit is designed to use a stock two-bolt sensor. The kit includes a modified harmonic balancer, sensor support bracket, and a new sensor.
